Daniel Craig Named New 007

Daniel Craig has been tapped to play Bond, James Bond. I've never heard of him before, but two thing impress me already:
1) He is Britsh, so the accent will be authentic
2) ok, there is no second.

We'll see how the new movie Casino Royale turns out before a final verdict is given. The good news is that about two-three weeks ago I had read a rumor that the next Bond was going to be a young lad, 28 or so, and he was going to have NO GADGETS?! How in the world can you havea 00 super secret agent with no gadgets. It is just impossible. Glad to see that the writers decided to go a different direction.

Star Wars Revelations

I came across this fan film tonight called Star Wars Revelations. Produced by Panic Struck Productions, this fan film looks amazing. I'm downloading the movie with Bitornent right now. This 40 min. film looks amazing from the trailer I viewed. The graphic effects are darn near Lucas quality. Of course the plot and acting has yet to be evaluated, but it looks promising for an independent fan film. If you need a fix before Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith opens in May, this might be exactly what you need. Check out their promotional Web site with all types of goodies.

Shrek 2 Review

My wife and I went to go see Shrek 2 this last weekend. When we got to the show we were amazed on how packed the parking lot was. Turns out the latest Harry Potter flick opened this weekend.

I won't spill any spoilers here. Overall, it was just as good as the first. They throw a couple of plot twists I didn't think was going to happen based on all the commercials, so I was pleasently surprised. The show stealers...Donkey of course, and the Ginger Bread Man, in my humble opinion. Was it worth the $19 it costs to go to the movies these days...maybe. I mean really, what movie is worth $19 for two? You can rent movies for the entire weekend on #19! Anyway, I need to see the movie again to catch more lines. Plus, I honestly don't think movies like Shrek are due justice on a big screen. Yes, they look cool in the theatre, but you really can't see the amazing detail. So I can't wait to put it on my 36" TV on a rental. I have to admit, referring to the detail here, there was at least one moment when I had to do a double take to remind myself that this was an animation movie...I thought the scene was real. Amazing.

Gigli Pulled for Bad Boys

It is confirmed. Gigli did so bad at the box office (3.8 or 9 M) its opening weekend, that yesterday all advertising was pulled and replaced by Will Smith and Marting Lawrence for Bad Boys II.

Plus to continue the "Bennifer" drama, there are reports flying around that J-Lo was out getting hammered the other night without her engagement ring on. Fights are going on between them reportedly. Who knows, and who really cares...so why am I writing this????

Gigl-OSER

So the weekend box office reports are in and (Drum roll please.........) yes, it is true, Gigli is a bomb. Raking in a mere $3.5M on its opening weekend, reports are flying in (although I couldn't confirm thusfar) that the movie will be yanked from theaters after this weekend. Now let's do a little movie economics here. Movie costs $55M to make, rakes in only $3.5 opening weekend with outlooks that this is the best it will do...good call.

Not even the star power of Ben "Oh he is georgeous (my fiancee's words, not mine)" Affleck and J-Loser Lopez could save this movie. Let's just hope that their follow-up showing Jersey Girl won't be the same. Hopefully the star power of Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy, etc.) will be enough to overpower the "Bennifer" stigma that comes with those two on the silver screen.

Note to stars:
Ben - Got any upcoming roles with Matt?? Might want to consider that avenue.
Jen - New album??? Um....well might be a better bet than the movies.
